Operating Standards

We endeavour to operate our trips to the best standard we can. We now have years of experience of providing outdoor adventures (but we haven't stopped learning) and experience is definitely valuable.

Guiding qualifications

Safety! We take it very seriously. Whilst we cannot guarantee your safety on any of our courses (please see the risk awareness document part of our terms and conditions), all of our trips are lead by appropriately qualified guides, instructors or mountain leaders. In many instances UIAGM (the highest international guiding certificate available). We also provide training on how to use the relevant equipment where necessary and courses to help you prepare for your real adventure. In many cases the guide leading you will have completed that particular route many times before. Either way, whoever is leading you will have a long and extensive history of personal travel in the mountains.

Your enjoyment on your trip is largely dependant on the guide's knowledge of the area, their ability to make you feel safe in the environment you are in and also the rapport they can build with you. We choose all of our guides according to this criteria. The majority of our guides have worked with Maximum Adventure for a number of years now. They come from a variety of different areas, have a variety of different nationalities but all have a love of the mountains in common.

Medical Assistance

All of the guides we use at Maximum Adventure are qualified First Aiders. We also work in partnership with a medical service that provides telephone access to qualified doctors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. These doctors advise us on any medical issues and treatment we need to be aware of before you travel on a Maximum Adventure trip, no matter where you are going. They are also available in case of emergency during your trip, when travelling outside of Europe. Within Europe we use the local health authorities such as mountain rescue and paramedics.

The services our qualified doctors offer are:

  • Telephone Medical Advice - A direct line to our Virtual Hospital 24/7
  • Online medical advice
  • Referral network for specialist treatment
  • Case management of medical repatriation
  • 'Top Cover' advice to medical personnel on location

In an emergency we always contact the local health authorities. However, in some places that you travel to they could be hours or even days away!  By having access to qualified doctors this is an invaluable service for our guides and clients, after all receiving the appropriate medical treatment immediately could make all the difference!

Responsible Tourism

What is responsible tourism? Well, I am sure if you put this into any search engine you will receive various answers. At Maximum Adventure we believe it is being aware of the impact that we as travellers have on the local environments and cultures that we come into contact with during our adventure trips.

With this in mind we adhere to the following statements:

  • We ensure people who work directly for us are treated fairly and paid a fair wage for the job they do.
  • All of our guides are aware of the cultures and customs in the countries that they work and they will happily pass this knowledge onto you. This is especially useful when travelling outside of Europe to enable you to not accidentally cause offence to the local people.
  • We use local people and companies wherever possible to ensure that the income generated from our trips benefits the local economy.
  • We offer small group travel to ensure our clients have a genuine experience as well as ensuring that our impact on the local environment is kept to a minimum.
