Itinerary

We normally run this Zurich to Milan Cycle over 4 nights, (3 cycling days), Arrive Sunday and depart Thursday however, if you would like to do this at any other time, then please contact us.

A typical cycle itinerary looks like this:

Day 1 - Arrive in Zurich: Make your own way to Zurich and check in to your accommodation. Meet your guide and support team in the evening and reassemble your bike after transportation ready for a pre-event bike check.

Day 2 - Zurich to Airolo: Typically we meet at 08.00am at the 12th Century Grossmünster (Cathedral) in Zurich to start riding at 08.30am. The route takes us along Lake Zurich before tackling a few warm-up climbs over Alpine passes towards the beautiful Zuger and Vierwaldstatter Lakes. It's then onwards through the Ruess valley past Andermatt and 'The Devils Bridge' before taking the old road over the famous St Gotthard Pass before the winding descent into Airolo below. The St Gotthard Pass acts as a transition between the mainly German-speaking North Switzerland to the predominately Italian speaking South Switzerland.
85 miles (137km)

Day 3 - Airolo to Locarno: This long day starts by heading south west out of the town and following the Ticino river to the base of the Nufenen Pass (2478 m), our first pass of the day. Crossing this mountain pass allows us to cross into the Rhone valley for a while towards Brig and the second of our mountain passes today; the Simplon pass (2,005 m). On the descent, we cross into Italy and end today's' cycling in the resort city of Locarno, on Lake Maggiore.
105 miles (170km)

Day 4 - Locarno to Milan: Leaving Locarno behind the route takes us on a relatively flat journey alongside Lake Lugano till we reach the shores of Lake Como at Menaggio. From here we take a short ferry crossing to the other side of Lake Como as this allows us to visit the famous Ghisallo Cycling Museum before descending to flatter plains and suburbs of Milan. We finish our ride in the centre of Milan at the Arco della Pace - The Arch of Peace
87 miles (140km)

Day 5 - Departure day: Breakfast and make your own way home or stay an extra night in Milan.
