Scafell Pike - Summer

Intro

Moderateskills icon

The Lake District contains some of the most beautiful scenery in England. It has hundreds of fells which create a vast terrain of rugged mountains. For centuries the landscape here has provided inspiration to poets such as William Wordsworth & Samuel Taylor Coleridge and of course the famous Alfred Wainwright who explored and captured the area so others could follow in his footsteps.

Scafell Pike, with its rock towers and vast summit plateau, should be on everyone's tick list. But not because it lays claim to the highest piece of earth in the Lake District (and England), more because of its rugged untamed beauty. A huge block of a mountain, formed by glacial processes, to produce peak, plateau, and precipice - an amazing piece of natural engineering.

Our preferred route begins at Seathwaite and traverses the mountain so we end the day at Wasdale Head. We allow ourselves a number of route choices from this starting position, thus making the most of prevailing conditions. We pass deep gills, pretty tarns, and stunning mountain scenery.

Upon entering Wasdale valley, you will immediately feel the mountain atmosphere surround you. This valley and the scene it creates, is sure to form a lasting memory. Enough storytelling, come and experience it for yourself.
