What is the Rota Vicentina?
The Rota Vicentina is one of Europe’s most spectacular walking networks. There are 750km of hiking trails to explore throughout the Southwest of Portugal, stretching along the Alentejo and Vicentina Coast.
The Rota Vicentina Hiking Trails
Rota Vicentina plays host to three trail networks: the Historical Way, the Fishermen’s Trail, and several Circular Routes.
The Historical Way is an epic 263km and is made up of a total of 13 sections. It passes through many of the area’s main towns and villages such as Odemira and São Teotónio, taking you on a journey through centuries of history as you go. Enjoy stretches of trail through cork tree forests, valleys and mountain ranges.
The Fishermen’s Trail follows Portugal’s wild Atlantic coast for a total of 226.5km, passing dramatic cliffs, beaches, and highlights including Odeceixe and Cabo de São Vicente. Experience one of the best coastal trails in the world.
The Rota Vicentina also offers 24 circular walking routes to try. These walks are made up of short and medium options, that start and finish in the same place, all of which showcase local scenery, from coastal lagoons to panoramic viewpoints.
