The Moselle Cycle Path (Mosel-Radweg) is one of Europe’s most scenic riverside cycling routes, running along the Moselle River from France through Luxembourg and into Germany, finishing where the river joins the Rhine at Koblenz.

The Moselle River passes through three countries, but the cycling route is continuous and well-signposted. It’s one of Germany’s most popular river routes, attracting cyclists worldwide. The route is closely tied to wine culture, with more than 20,000 hectares of vineyards along the Moselle.

This 3-day itinerary gives you the most iconic part of the Moselle: Roman Trier, medieval Bernkastel, romantic Cochem, fairytale castles, and finishes at the Rhine in Koblenz.

Quick Facts

  • 160km Trier to Koblenz
  • Best time: May–September for warm weather and wine festivals
  • Bikes: Bring your own or rent in Trier (many shops offer 1-way rentals with return in Koblenz)
  • Luggage: Luggage transfer services available if you want to ride light
  • Transport: Both Trier and Koblenz have excellent rail connections (Frankfurt, Cologne, Luxembourg)

About & Details

The Moselle Cycle Path (Moselradweg in German) is a scenic and well-maintained cycling route that follows the Moselle River from its source in the Vosges Mountains of France, through Luxembourg, and into Germany, where it winds its way to the Rhine River in Koblenz. Spanning over 300 kilometers, the path is renowned for its gentle terrain, making it ideal for cyclists of all levels. Along the way, riders pass through picturesque vineyards, historic towns like Trier and Cochem, and charming wine villages nestled between river bends and steep, terraced hills. The route combines natural beauty with cultural richness, offering opportunities to explore Roman ruins, medieval castles, and sample world-class Riesling wines. It’s one of Europe’s most popular river cycle routes, blending outdoor activity with a taste of regional heritage and cuisine.

After you book

After placing your booking with us, you will in the first instance receive an automated email from our system confirming receipt of your reservation. If you don’t receive it, it is worth checking your spam/clutter folder.

In the process of placing your booking, you will generally set up an access password to our online gateway where you can review the details of the booking.

Your personal adventure travel planner will then be in touch with you to start to confirm the details. This contact will usually be taken up in the working day after receipt of your booking, but may, in busy times, take a little longer. The adventure travel planner will then liaise with you regarding the details of the course. If you have any specific requirements, please do mention it at this stage.

At the end of your trip

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end at some point and when you arrive at the end of the trail, some people like to treat themselves to a night’s stay at the end.  And why not?  You’ve earned it.  You can arrange this as an optional extra with your adventure travel planner
