Relax after a day of adventure

After a full day on the trail, having somewhere comfortable to relax is an important part of the experience.

We carefully select accommodation for our self-guided adventures, with trips generally using good-quality B&Bs, guest houses and small hotels. Many of our walking itineraries include accommodation with an ensuite or private bathroom and breakfast.

We take the stress out of your trip with hand-picked accommodation. We work closely with our suppliers and choose accommodation carefully, with the aim of giving you somewhere comfortable to relax after a great day adventuring.

Breakfast included

For all our walking adventures, accommodation includes breakfast, helping you get ready for the day ahead. The exact inclusions are shown on each individual adventure page.

Your accommodation details

Once your trip is booked, your event planner will confirm your accommodation arrangements and provide you with the relevant information.

If you have specific requirements, let your adventure travel planner know and they’ll work with you to see what can be arranged.

And your luggage?

You don’t need to carry everything with you.

On many of our self-guided walking and cycling adventures, luggage transfers are included, with your baggage delivered to your accommodation for the next stage of your journey. Exact arrangements and weight limits vary by trip.

Self-guided doesn’t mean unsupported.

One of the biggest advantages of booking a self-guided adventure with Maximum Adventure is that you get to enjoy the freedom of travelling at your own pace without having to organise every detail yourself.

We take care of the organisation behind the scenes, while giving you the information and support you need to make the most of your adventure.

Route information

You’ll receive detailed trip information to help you find your way.

Depending on the adventure, this can include:

  • Maps
  • Guidebooks
  • Detailed directions
  • Route guidance
  • GPX files for selected cycling trips

The exact information provided is shown on your individual adventure page.

Luggage transfers

On applicable trips, your luggage is transferred between your accommodation each day, meaning you can enjoy the day’s walking or cycling without carrying your main luggage.

Individual trips specify the luggage arrangements and any weight restrictions.

24-hour emergency assistance

All of our self-guided adventures include 24-hour emergency assistance during your trip, giving you an additional layer of reassurance while you’re away.

Expert local knowledge

Our team has extensive experience organising walking and cycling adventures and strong local knowledge of the areas in which we operate.

That means you aren’t simply buying an itinerary — you’re benefiting from the knowledge of people who understand the routes and the practicalities of putting these trips together.

Your personal Adventure Travel planner

Once you’ve booked, your personal event planner will be in touch to start confirming the details of your trip.

If you have specific requirements, this is the time to let us know so we can discuss what can be arranged.

Questions About Our Self-Guided Holidays?

A lady pausing to take in the view on a misty self-guided walking adventure.

We’re here to help.

Planning a walking or cycling adventure can raise a few questions. That’s completely normal.

How flexible are the trips?

That’s one of the biggest advantages of going self-guided.

Maximum Adventure offers a range of itinerary lengths, and you can often add extra nights before, during or after your adventure. The itineraries and daily mileages can be modified to create bespoke treks which suit individual plans. You’re also not necessarily tied to a specific start date — you choose the option that works for you.

Do I have to travel with someone?

Many of our trips are based on two people sharing, but solo travellers can contact the team to discuss the options and any applicable supplement.

What happens after I book?

You’ll receive an automated confirmation of your reservation and access to your booking information.

Your personal event planner will then contact you to start confirming the details of your adventure and discuss any specific requirements.

What if I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for?

Get in touch.

Maximum Adventure specialises in creating trips and challenges around what customers want. If you can’t find the right itinerary, the team can discuss creating something more specific to you.
