Why should I Book an Adventure Holiday?

An active adventure holiday is brilliant for your health

It’s been tough getting our daily exercise in over the last 12 months, local park walks sometimes just don’t cut it after a while!  A trekking or cycle holiday means you can get all of your daily recommended dose of exercise, discover new areas every day with not a stuffy gym membership in sight!

Walking is a great form of exercise—not only to build strong legs and promote healthy joints, but also strengthens your heart and lowers your risk of disease.

Spending time Outdoors reduces stress

Have you ever noticed that a walk outdoors can help melt away the stresses of the day? Well research suggests that mood disorders can be lifted by spending more time outdoors.

Nature makes Exercise Easier

Different colours and environments can really affect how you feel, and how much you can enjoy or dislike something! So if you are struggling to get into exercise, or trying to keep fit, an adventure in the woods, or along the coast could be just what you need.

Research conducted at the University of Essex showed that the color green, such as that found on trees, grass and other plants in nature, makes exercise feel easier. The small study tested cyclists pedaling in front of green, gray and red images. Those exercising in front of the green showed less mood disturbances and reported that they felt lower exertion during their cycling. Plus, other research showed that those who exercise outside are more eager to return for a future workout than those who stick to the gym.

A  Sense of Accomplishment

Challenging yourself and stepping out of your comfort zone can give you a sense of achievement that is really hard to beat. It might be tough at the time, but the sense of accomplishment after completing a long distance trek, or challenging climb will stay with you for life. We call this Type B fun! Tough at the time, but the stories and memories make it all worthwhile.

The Outdoors can make you Smarter

Immersing yourself in the outdoors can increase your higher order cognition in more ways than one. In an experiment, a group of middle-aged adults were asked to take three 40-minute walks a week for a year. At the end of the 12-month period, MRI scans verified that their hippocampi grew, on average, by 2 percent!

Reconnect with Friends and Family

Embarking on a challenge with other people can bring you closer together; sharing the trials and the triumphs gives you something to bond over and forms relationships that’ll embed deep in your memories. Now, more than ever we need to reconnect with nature, and reconnecting with your loved ones on a family adventure holiday is the perfect way to do that

.

We hope to see you out adventuring soon!
